Amjad Sabri, 45, was one of the country’s finest qawwals, known for his soul-stirring renditions of mystic poetry.

His art was about love of God and humanity. He was known to be a philanthropist.

Then why they chose him?

The most obvious answer is also the scariest one – he is another addition to the long list of the best and the brightest that have been taken away from us.

We, as a society, are being robbed of our voice, our art, our sense of identity and our true spirit. We are being condemned to death, a suffocating one.

We know our condemner but looks like we can’t do anything about it.
